YOU BELONG AT THE START

Yoga for larger bodies.
No need to fit a mold.

If you’ve searched for plus-size yoga or yoga for overweight beginners, you may simply be looking for instruction that makes room for you. That’s a worthwhile place to begin.

Your goals don’t have to include weight loss

You can be interested in yoga for movement, curiosity, a personal routine, or time to focus on yourself. You do not need to make weight loss the purpose of your practice or earn the right to start by changing your body first.

Body size alone does not describe flexibility, strength, health, or experience. Instead of assuming what you can do, a useful first conversation starts with your own description of what feels accessible and what you would like to explore.

Ask for options, not a perfect-looking pose

If a previous class felt rushed or uncomfortable, identify what made it that way. Perhaps the transitions were too fast, there was little room for questions, or a standard instruction did not fit your proportions. Those details help you discuss what you need from a different teaching experience.

Questions you can bring to an instructor include:

What to expect from online private instruction

One-to-one instruction gives you time for questions and a conversation about your preferences. Ask about the camera setup and what the instructor can assess remotely before deciding if it is a good fit. A video screen also has limits; an online session cannot provide hands-on assistance.

Recovery Yoga With Me welcomes inquiries from beginners in larger bodies. Online sessions are taught by a certified yoga instructor with seven years of experience who is also a licensed physician assistant. This is yoga instruction, not weight-loss treatment or medical care.

If you have a health condition, pain, or an injury, discuss starting yoga with your healthcare professional. “Beginner” and “gentle” do not mean every movement is appropriate for everyone.

Start with your questions

Ask about online private yoga, pricing, and how your preferences could be included. A general note is enough; please don’t send medical records.
